The MNBAQ’s gastronomic choices: Tempéra Québecor signed Marie-Chantal Lepage in the new Pierre Lassonde pavillion, an exclusive restaurant in the central pavilion, known for its magnificent patio, a café and sandwich shop in the atrium of the Charles Baillairgé pavilion (the former Québec City jailhouse) and a catering service for all those planning events at the MNBAQ.

Tempéra Québécor

Located at 179 Grande Allée Ouest, in the main glass lobby of the Pierre Lassonde pavilion, the seventy-seat restaurant offers the finest urban environment in Québec City. Visitors will have the impression of being outside while inside, of being in the heart of the Plains of Abraham and on the Grande Allée.

This new space is a warm and friendly gathering spot with a multitude of main courses to discover and dishes to share.

All those wishing to know the origin of the name of the restaurant should be aware that Marie-Chantal Lepage wanted to create a connection between the art of the table and the fine arts, between the good and the beautiful. Tempera is an old painting technique greatly used in Europe in the late Middle Ages and the early Renaissance, consisting in mixing colour pigments in water with a binding agent such as egg yolk. The emulsifying power of this colouring material gave consistency and opacity to the paint. It would be impossible to find a better name!
