Safety regulations

The MNBAQ offers a welcoming, inclusive living and socialization space that invites visitors to discover Québec and international art. Everyone is welcome and visitors undertake to abide by this code of responsibilities to ensure a pleasant visit for one and all. The MNBAQ reserves the right to prohibit access to anyone who fails to comply with this code of responsibilities.

At all times

  • To avoid accidents, please leave umbrellas, backpacks, and big handbags in the cloakroom. The MNBAQ reserves the right to examine bags and deny access to individuals with prohibited objects in their possession.
  • To maintain a pleasant environment, use the appropriate language and behaviour. Coarse, aggressive language, harassment, and offensive or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Please dress suitably and ensure that your body hygiene does not bother other people.
  • Children 12 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult.

In the exhibition rooms

  • We encourage discussions around artworks. Please speak quietly in a spirit of respect for the other visitors.
  • To avoid accidents involving yourself or the artworks, walk in the MNBAQ.
  • The artworks that you have the pleasure of contemplating are fragile. Since we wish to preserve them for future generations, touching them or leaning on furnishings or the exhibition room walls are prohibited.
  • Remain roughly 1 metre from the artworks to ensure the security of the objects exhibited and allow other visitors to contemplate the works.
  • Light can cause the deterioration of a number of artworks and flash photography is not permitted. It is possible to take photographs for personal use in public areas and certain exhibition rooms.
  • Please observe the information to this effect in the entrances to the exhibition rooms. In the case of exhibitions in which the artworks have been loaned to the MNBAQ, it may be prohibited to photograph certain works.
  • Drinking or eating are prohibited in the exhibition rooms in the museum complex.

IN THE EXHIBITION ROOMS, THE AUDITORIUM, AND THE MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM

  • Out of consideration for other visitors, turn off electronic device ringers and avoid telephone conversations.
  • Drinking or eating are prohibited in the exhibition rooms in the museum complex.
