The MNBAQ is the living memory of Québec art, with a collection of over 42,000 works that tell the story of the key periods and founding movements of our culture. In 2027, the reopening of the Gérard Morisset Pavilion will mark a major milestone in the expansion of this collection. The new pavilion will showcase priceless works by Riopelle, reaffirming the Musée as a pillar of Québec art.
An inclusive and strategic vision
Our museum’s objective is clear: to make known, promote, and preserve Québec art, while ensuring a balanced representation of diverse cultures and practices. Our current priorities are to include underrepresented artists, as well as artists from Indigenous and numerous other cultural backgrounds. The involvement of a major patron will enable us to seize unique acquisition opportunities, be more competitive, and preserve Québec art for future generations.
A unique experience: visible storage areas in the Espace Riopelle
The addition of the Espace Riopelle and visible storage area at the MNBAQ will offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at conservation and restoration. This transparent 234 m² workspace will let visitors see the art of preservation without staging, showing the painstaking care it takes to safeguard our artistic heritage.
