Practical Information

There is a paid parking lot behind the Charles-Baillairgé Pavilion (former prison). Anticipate a few minutes of outdoor walking to reach the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion.

Electric vehicles
There are two electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot, in front of the Charles-Baillairgé Pavilion.

Accessible parking
Parking spaces are available for holders of an accessible parking permit issued by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec.

• At the rear of the Charles-Baillargé Pavilion parking lot, accessible from Wolfe-Montcalm Avenue
• In the parking lot of Saint-Dominique Church, accessible from the Grande Allée

Family parking
There are two family parking spaces near the Charles Baillairgé Pavilion.

The Musée is served by the 11 bus, which stops directly across from the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion. Metrobus routes 800 and 801 also stop nearby, on René-Lévesque Boulevard.

To learn how best to reach the Musée by bus, visit the RTC website, where you will find schedules, routes, and fares.

In summer, there is an àVélo bike-sharing station on De Bourlamaque Avenue, just a few metres from the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion.

Racks for personal bicycles are also available to the left of the Musée’s main entrance, along the side of Saint-Dominique Church.

If you come to the Musée by school bus, your driver can use the drop-off area in front of the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion to let your group off at the entrance. It is prohibited to pick up or drop off passengers on Wolfe-Montcalm Avenue.

Work on the Espace Riopelle is in progress. Please note that the central pavilion, the Gérard Morisset Pavilion, and the Charles Baillairgé Pavilion are closed to the public.

The Musée is just a few minutes from Cartier Street and 20 minutes from Parliament via Grande Allée.

From May to October, the hop-on-hop-off Red Loop stops at the Musée.

For the safety of all our visitors and staff, and to preserve our collections and facilities, we do not allow animals in our indoor areas.* However, if you have a service dog for a disability, you are welcome to bring them. We take a humane and accommodating approach.

To ensure easy access for you and your service dog, and to make sure your rights are respected, our policy hinges on the following.

• Our staff uses the Mira and Lions Foundation of Canada (Lions) Dog Guides certifications as a reference, since these foundations offer a comprehensive certification and training program.

Mira and Lions Foundation dogs are easily recognizable by their identification and mandatory harness, so they are automatically allowed to enter.

Permission for dogs with this identification also means that foster families are welcome to bring their service dogs in training.

• Dogs certified by organizations that have the same comprehensive structure (medical certificate, training, public awareness, etc.), and are easily identifiable either online or through the identification they wear, are also welcome.
• In other cases, if you indicate that you are bringing a service dog, we require the following.

An official certificate signed by a doctor who is a member of a professional association recognized in your country of residence, indicating that you need a service dog to assist you with a disability. Medical certificates that can be obtained for a fee, without an effective analysis of your needs, are not accepted.

To make entry easier, please call our security service at 418-643-8119 before your visit to get written authorization; note that this authorization may take up to 48 hours in some cases. Calling ahead allows the verification process to be completed before you arrive at the Musée.

• In the unlikely event that your service dog behaves in a way that is unsafe for visitors or damaging to our facilities, we may ask you to temporarily or permanently leave an area of the Musée.
• You are responsible for your service dog at all times. They must remain at your side.

* Except as part of an innovative or special Musée project.

• Umbrellas, backpacks, and large bags can be left in the cloakroom free of charge. We reserve the right to search bags and deny entry to people with prohibited items.
• Eating and drinking is only permitted in the dining areas.
• Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
• Please behave appropriately and use appropriate language to keep the Musée enjoyable for everyone. Harassment and rude, aggressive, offensive, or discriminatory language and behaviour will not be tolerated.

• Do not touch the artwork. Dirt on your hands, even if it’s not visible, can cause damage over time.
• Do not lean on the walls or furniture in the galleries.
• Stay a respectful distance (around one metre) back from the works.
• Turn off the flash on your camera when taking photos, as light can damage many works of art.
• Please keep your pace at a walk in the Musée to avoid accidents.
• We encourage you to talk about the art, but please keep your voice low out of respect for other visitors.
