Mains d’œuvre – Une vie en poésie offers an immersion into the practice of contemporary Quebecois poets through a series of filmed encounters capturing their creative processes. From Fernand Ouellette to Rita Mestokosho, and Denise Desautels to Pierre Morency, filmmakers Vincent Lambert and Jean-Philippe Dupuis gather invaluable insights.
These rarely accessible workspaces reveal how the world appears through a poet’s eyes. How does one inhabit language and the world, know oneself, while shaping demanding art? The film’s title, inspired by a poem by Quebecois multidisciplinary artist Roland Giguère, highlights this dual dimension: the vastness of the work and the meticulous hands that create it, amid erasures, revelations, and perseverance..
