The Way We Move, presented at South by Southwest (SXSW), is a documentary following Amber Galloway, a leading American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, specializing in live concert adaptation. Her mission: to make music accessible to the Deaf community.

With exceptional pedagogical talent, Amber trains her new recruits, Julian Ortiz and Angela “AV” Vilavong, hesitant at first, in a unique adventure to join her at the Austin City Limits festival. The film explores Amber’s painful past and her protégées’ journeys, showing how music and ASL interpretation become channels for human connection, resilience, and lasting bonds.

A vibrant tribute to music, Deaf culture, and the strength of human relationships, the film paints a portrait of the United States counter to the narrative of Trumpism.

Nicolas Davenel

Nicolas Davenel made his first music videos in the United States and quickly began collaborating with renowned artists such as Birdy Nam Nam and Brodinsky. 

He began working with Vanessa Dumont in 2017. Together, they make music videos, commercials and documentary filmmaking

Vanessa Dumont

After studying video at the Beaux-Arts d'Annecy, Vanessa Dumont started her own business as an artistic director. She worked for several creative agencies before beginning her collaborating with Nicolas Davenel in 2017. Together, they make music videos, commercials and documentary filmmaking.
