Take inspiration from mimicry—the ability of some living creatures to blend into their environment for protection—in this body painting workshop designed by artist Karine Payette.
Following the example of her recent hyper-realistic sculptures, you’ll apply camouflage-like make-up to your skin in the colours and patterns of an insect. Then, immortalize your creation with Photobox Studio!
Artist
Karine Payette’s work is primarily rooted in sculpture and installation. It is characterized by the reconstitution of fictitious environments that question the mechanisms by which living organisms adapt to a perpetually transforming world. Her recent research focuses on the idea of the environment’s influence on individuals, examining the intricate relationships between humans and other species.
Karine Payette’s work has been displayed in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Québec. It is held in several public collections, including those of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, the Prêt d’œuvres d’art du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and the Musée d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, and of the cities of Montréal, Longueuil, and Laval. Since 2015, she has created a dozen public artworks integrated into architectural structures. She is represented by the Art Mûr gallery in Montréal.
