On Track for 2026: One Year Before the Espace Riopelle Opens

Jean Paul Riopelle’s birthday—October 7—was the perfect day to offer a tour of the Espace Riopelle to the media, along with Minister of Culture and Communications Mathieu Lacombe and Minister Responsible for the Capitale-Nationale Region Jean-François Simard. A perfect opportunity to highlight the outstanding work of the teams involved in shaping the space!

Alongside Jean-Luc Murray, Director General of the MNBAQ; Éric Gauthier, Associate Architect at FABG; and Maxime Veilleux, Vice President Executive Officer at CONCREA, the guests had the chance to:

  • Explore the many spaces that are taking shape, including the lobby with its wood scrolls and elegant colonnades
  • Imagine the new multipurpose room
  • See the storage area that will be visible to the public
  • Be awed by the size of the reference room devoted to Riopelle’s work
  • Walk on the patio next to the room dedicated to Tribute to Rosa Luxemburg
  • Take in the breathtaking view of the river

With work more than 55% complete, the big countdown is now on! The Espace Riopelle will be open to the public on October 7, 2026. See how construction is progressing in numbers and images!
