As part of our week-long A Celebrated Oeuvre event, take a moment to contemplate the work of Suzanne Meloche, accompanied by the profound, emotional music of pianist Vincent Gagnon.

A time to look, a time to listen, a time to let yourself be carried away. The world stops around you, so you can take the time to simply feel… and maybe enjoy a cup of tea as you truly savour this moment of slow mindfulness.

Gaspé-born, Québec City-based pianist, keyboardist, and composer Vincent Gagnon is one of the region’s best-known jazzmen, having performed in hundreds of concerts with local and international artists.

In addition to jazz, he has played live and recorded performances with Keith Kouna, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Ariane Roy, Thierry Larose, Tire le coyote, Hubert Lenoir, Émilie Clepper, Paule-Andrée Cassidy, Patrice Michaud, Marco Ema, Rosalie Ayotte, Raoûl Duguay, Jennifer Tremblay, and many others. He is also a founding member of the “gamer jazz” duo Ping Pong Go.

He has released three albums as leader of his jazz ensemble: Bleu Cendre (2009), Himalaya (2012) and Tome III - Errances (2014). He has been described as “[…] the revelation of the 2009 Festival de Jazz de Québec” (Stanley Péan, Radio-Canada). He won the Prix Étoiles-Galaxie de Radio-Canada at the 2009 Festival de jazz de Montréal, and the Prix Lumière at the 2021 Artisti gala. He has also twice been nominated for the Prix Opus in the best jazz album category, and was a finalist for the arranger of the year Félix Award in 2014. With Ping Pong Go, he was a finalist for the album of the year (instrumental) Félix Award in 2023, and won the experimental album of the year award at GAMIQ 2022.
