The exhibition focuses on the MNBAQ’s wide-ranging collection of contemporary art, comprising more than 9 000 works. It presents in two exhibition rooms a selection of seminal works created from 1960 to the present by key figures of the history of Québec art.
If pays a vibrant tribute to the artists who shaped this period: BGL, Nadia Myre, Paul Lacroix, Stéphane La Rue, Jacky Georges Lafargue, Janet Werner, Nicolas Baier, Valérie Blass, David Elliott, François Lacasse, Pierre Dorion, Stephen Schofield, Diane Landry and Guy Pellerin to name but a few.
Together with the Quiet Revolution, Québec art experienced unprecedented upheavals that still strike a chord today. Starting in the 1960s, a new awareness of art emerged, characterized by the redefinition of aesthetic parameters and a proliferation of forms of expression.
