FIFA Year-Round
This film spotlights filmmaker Agnès Varda, a major figure of the 20th century. Her free and profoundly human vision left its mark on her era, the same as that of Niki de Saint Phalle.
Agnès Varda and JR have much in common: a passion for and questioning of images in general, and more specifically of the places and devices for showing, sharing and exhibiting them.
Agnès chose cinema. JR chose to create open-air photography galleries.
When Agnès and JR met in 2015, they immediately wanted to work together, shooting a film in France, far from the cities, traveling with JR's photographic (and magical) truck. Whether through chance encounters or prepared projects, they reached out to others, listening, photographing and sometimes posting.
The film also tells the story of their friendship, which grew over the course of the shoot, between surprises and teasing, laughing at their differences.
