Strawberries

Strawberries combine the buoyancy characteristic of Renoir's female nudes and the delight of his vibrant Impressionist landscapes in a modest, straight-forward fashion. When the artist included still lifes within larger figural compositions, their seeming effortlessness and fluency led one critic to observe that the best of his late work was "concentrated in the roses, peaches and berries that cluster along the edge of his canvases.
